Acquire and devote funding/incentives to support research and new applications for recycled feedstock conversions, that validate viable products and uses for recycled materials.

Important criteria for any funded or subsidized projects include consumption of target recycled materials, sustainable market demand for the product, and positive financial outcome.

If funding is available, determine a prioritized list of targeted companies that could convert to recycled feedstock. Publicize funding solicitations to companies targeted for feedstock conversion.

This example of the CWC solicitation used in funding previous projects includes the solicitation announcement, the proposal application, and evaluation criteria.

If tax credits or other subsidies are available for business that agree to try or use recycled material(s) in new applications, get the word out to businesses for these opportunities. For instance, a future recycled market driver may be energy conservation or greenhouse gas reduction. Recycled materials represent products into which the majority of the energy investment has already been made during the conversion from natural resources into products. The future cost of energy MAY lead to improved markets for recycled materials, if energy costs manifest themselves more directly in raw materials conversion costs.
