Revising Grading Criteria for Recycled Timber (2000)
Summary:
A team of industry experts worked together to develop and proposed revisions
to grading criteria for recycled Douglas fir timber, to help ensure
satisfactory structural performance of the timber and promote wider
use of recycled timber. Experimental tests and a theoretical model helped
determine effects of existing bolt/nail holes on recycled timber strength.
The proposed criteria were presented to the Washington Certified Lumber
Inspection Board and the American Lumber Standards Committee.
