The EEOC has published a proposal to rescind the requirement that employers file the annual Employer Information (EEO-1) Report. While any final action remains months away, if not longer, the proposal represents the first step toward one of the most significant changes to federal equal employment opportunity reporting requirements in decades.

If implemented, the proposal could affect workforce occupation classification systems and self-identification practices, along with the rapidly growing patchwork of state and local workforce reporting laws.
