CWC Offers Template for Assessing Disability and Veteran Outreach

September 30, 2024

What's New

CWC has updated its template for assessing outreach to persons with disabilities and protected veterans.

Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 503) prohibits employment discrimination by federal government contractors and subcontractors on the basis of disability. Similarly, the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA) prohibits employment discrimination against protected veterans by federal contractors and subcontractors. These laws, as well as the regulations at 41 CFR Part 60-300 and 41 CFR Part 60-741, require covered contractors to take affirmative action to recruit, employ, and promote qualified protected veterans and individuals with disabilities. Contractors must document their outreach and recruitment activities.

What It Means

This template can assist CWC’s federal contractor members in organizing their data so they’re ready if the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) audits them. The template also should make it easier to respond to items 8 and 12 on OFCCP’s Scheduling Letter.

What You Should Do

CWC members can use this template to organize their data on their outreach to protected veterans and individuals with disabilities. Members can discuss this topic with CWC staff and fellow members during one of our Conversation Corners.
