CWC Updates Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Policy Templates

February 25, 2025

What's New

CWC has updated its equal opportunity and affirmative action policy statement templates to reflect the rescission of Executive Order 11246. These templates, available to our members, can help federal contractors as they review their policies to ensure that they are complying with E.O. 14173.

There are two versions of the templates:

  1. an Affirmative Action Policy Statement, which is mandated under OFCCP regulations implementing Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act and Section 4212 of the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act; and
  2. a broader Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Policy Statement that integrates the Section 503 and VEVRAA requirements.

What It Means

Following the rescission of E.O. 11246, many federal contractors are reviewing and revising their procedures, policies, and other written materials that refer to that executive order. (Covered federal contractors may continue to comply with OFCCP regulations at 41 CFR Parts 60-1, 60-2, and 60-4 through April 20, 2025.) CWC will revise many of the templates we released over the last several years to provide updated compliance resources for our members.

What You Should Do

Employers that were subject to E.O. 11246 should review their existing equal opportunity and affirmative action policies to determine whether they require revision. CWC members may use our updated equal employment opportunity and affirmative action program policy templates. CWC’s 2025 Workplace Policy Conference will discuss ways that employers can reshape their diversity programs to drive progress while minimizing systemic legal and reputational risk.
