House Appropriators Seek Nearly 13 Percent Cut From EEOC’s Budget

May 5, 2025

What's New

A House panel has advanced spending legislation for fiscal year 2027 that would slash $55.8 million from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s budget, a cut of 12.9 percent from current funding of $435.4 million.

The bill is scheduled to be considered by the full House Appropriations Committee on May 13, 2026.

What It Means

The House bill departs significantly from the White House’s request, which sought an increase of more than $20 million for the EEOC. While we’re still a long way away from final spending decisions, it will be an uphill battle if the White House is to get its way.
