CWC Updates Filing Guide for California’s 2024 Pay Data Reporting

February 6, 2025

What's New

CWC has updated our Filing Guide for California’s annual pay data reporting. The updated guide covers the rules for filing the report for 2024, which is due May 14, 2025.

This guide provides tips on the steps that a covered company should follow when pulling the data for California’s annual pay data reporting. CWC also updated its sample communication template that members can provide to labor contractors when requesting information for the Labor Contractor Employee Pay Data report.

New for the 2024 reporting cycle is the “Non-Hispanic/Latino Middle Eastern or North African” reporting category. Employers are not required to resurvey their workforce to solicit this information.

Filers must identify their California Secretary of State (SoS) Number. The SoS number is a seven- or twelve-digit number that can be found through the California Business Search link.

What It Means

Please note that CWC designed this memorandum as general compliance assistance rather than as legal advice. Additional information regarding California’s 2024 filing requirements can be found on CWC’s pay data reporting webpage, the online Pay Data Reporting Portal and accompanying User Guide, and from the updated Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) from the California Civil Rights Department (CRD).

What You Should Do

CWC will monitor developments regarding the 2024 California pay data reporting and provide any new information on CWC Collaborate. CWC members should let us know about your practical or technical compliance questions so we can bring them to CRD’s attention.
