Many states have passed laws that protect employee privacy in their use of social media and prohibit employers from requesting or requiring employees and applicants to provide access to their personal online accounts and social media websites. As data privacy protection continues to be a hot area of interest at both the state and federal level, employers are facing great restrictions and greater penalties for requesting prohibited information. CWC’s State Social Media Privacy Laws tool is aimed at helping members stay abreast of any developments by providing summaries of the restrictions as well as links to applicable state laws.
Helps members locate state laws regarding individuals' rights to privacy in social media.
