Parking Lot Gun Laws

In general, parking lot gun laws make it illegal for a company to maintain and enforce a policy that prevents employees—and in some states customers as well—from storing firearms in their locked vehicles while on company property. While many employers have expressed concerns over potential liability, some states have included provisions in their laws that provide immunity from any harm that may result. CWC’s State Parking Lot Gun Laws tool is designed to inform members of what states currently have these laws, but also provides a summary of any applicable exceptions that would allow an employer to limit gun possession on company property.
